SUMMARY:Marram Grass Transplanting Course - Carrickfinn
DESCRIPTION:Donegal Co. Co. will be holding a marram grass planting course at dune areas badly affected by erosion at Carrickfinn beach in association with Clean Coasts. Clean Coasts Officer for Donegal\, Beckey-Finn will be on hand to guide and support those attending.  \nEveryone who is able for some hard work or interested in dune erosion and marram grass planting is welcome to take part. \nMore information: \nMarram Grass\, Ammophila arenaria\, is the major dune building plant in Ireland. This sand trapping grass can not only help dune systems maintain their positions but reduce blowouts and consolidate areas of loose sands. This practical training workshop will develop skills around; when and how to transplant\, sources of supply\, correct technique and spacing considerations. \nCourse Programme   \n10.00am               Arrival & registration \n10.15am               Tool talk & practical session \n12.00pm               Lunch \n12.30pm               Marram Grass transplanting \n2.30pm                 Overview\, evaluation & finish \n  \nWhat to bring  \n\nPacked lunch- warm & cold drinks.
