DESCRIPTION:Clean Coasts Big Beach Clean weekend will take place on the 15th\, 16th and 17th of September 2017. We are delighted to team up with the International Ocean Conservancy again for the International Coastal Cleanup event. DESCRIPTION: \n\n\nWe are asking the public to nominate volunteers who they believe have made an outstanding contribution to Ireland’s coastal environment. This year we are looking for entries to the following 6 categories: Group of the Year\, Individual of the Year\, School of the Year\, Business of the Year\, Idea of the Year and Beach Clean of the Year. \nWhat are the Ocean Hero Awards?\nThe Clean Coasts’ Ocean Hero Awards are about honouring the invaluable contribution Ireland’s coastal communities have made towards conserving our spectacular coastline. The awards\, originally called the ‘Clean Coasts’ Merit Awards’\, were conceived in 2006\, consisting then of only one category\, ‘The Clean Coasts’ Group of the Year’. Since then the Clean Coasts’ programme has grown to engage over 550 Clean Coasts groups\, becoming embedded in many coastal communities nationwide. In an effort to recognise this growth the number of Ocean Hero categories have expanded to include six categories. \nOcean Hero Award Nominations\nIf you would like to recognise an individual\, Clean Coasts group\, school\, business or beach clean that made a difference to our coast please fill in the SurveyMonkey form here: surveymonkey.com/r/Ocean-Heroes-2017. \nFor the ‘Idea of Year Award’ we are looking for volunteers who have raised the profile of coastal protection in their community through awareness raising events and interesting initiatives. \nThe nomination process only takes a few minutes and we would love to hear your voice. DESCRIPTION:Clean Coasts and Barefoot Wines are delighted to bring you the ‘Beach Rescue Project’ on the 8th of July in Strandhill\, Co. Sligo.  \nThe event is part of Barefoot’s ‘World Beach Rescue Day’\, a campaign which has supported over 14\,000 volunteers since its launch 11 years ago\, in several countries including the US\, Mexico and Germany. \nThe Beach Resuce Project is being held in Ireland for the first time and it aims to create a fun and festive atmosphere whilst drawing attention to coastal issues such as marine litter and dune erosion. \nThe day’s activities are open to the public and include beach yoga\, surfing demos\, face-painting\, sand sculpting\, marram grass planting\, ‘Talks in the Park’\, and most importantly a Big Beach Clean. \nWe will also be throwing an after-party in The Strand Bar to thank everyone who takes part in the beach clean. The party will include a BBQ\, live music from soul singing sensation Buck Taylor and for those over 18\, a free glass of Barefoot wine to toast a job well done! \nThere will also be plenty of giveaways on the day\, including prizes for those who collect the most litter.

DESCRIPTION:CALLING ALL COASTAL OUTDOOR ADVENTURE GROUPS! \nAre you part of a water sports or outdoor adventure club? Would you like to incorporate a coastal clean-up into one of your next adventures and also be in with a chance to win a GoPro camera? This year\, Clean Coasts are encouraging adventure sports groups to take part in ‘Extreme Clean Day’ on Saturday 10th June. To take part all you have to do is organise an outing somewhere along the Irish coastline\, register it with us and clean as you go! \nYou can register your group for ‘Extreme Clean Day’ on this webpage and in return we will send you out a clean-up kit with gloves\, bags\, data collection cards\, posters and high-vis vests. \nWe also have 2 GoPro cameras up for grabs for best photo and video taken on the day. Post your images onto our Facebook page by 12 midnight on the 10th June and we will announce the winners the next day! \nPlease act responsibly and do not take unnecessary risks during this event. Images found to display hazardous behaviour will not be published or entered into our competition.

The week runs from June 2nd – 11th and there are many ways for you to get involved. \n \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER FOR CLEAN COASTS WEEK\n \n\n\n\n\nWe have all seen the evidence of marine litter along our coastline so for all you beach lovers out there it was an opportunity to do something positive to combat the problem and also raise awareness about the issue. People can create their own beach clean event or participate in one. Every piece of litter removed from the coast is a piece of litter that won’t pollute our oceans or harm wildlife. People can join us in celebration by attending some of the free coastal celebration events that take place around the country as well.

This sand trapping grass can not only help dune systems maintain their positions but reduce blowouts and consolidate areas of loose sands. This practical training workshop will develop skills around; when and how to transplant\, sources of supply\, correct technique and spacing considerations. DESCRIPTION:Coca-Cola Clean Coasts Week is taking place from 2nd to 11th June all over Ireland. Join us by registering your beach clean on Clean Coasts website\, and receive your free Beach Clean pack – http://cleancoasts.org/our-initiatives/clean-coasts-week/ \nEach year millions of tonnes of marine litter enter our seas and oceans\, resulting in environmental\, economic\, health and aesthetic challenges.  Clean Coasts are inviting volunteers to join this coastal clean-up helping remove marine litter from our beautiful coastline and in turn protecting our coastal habitats and marine life. \nIn 2016\, over 140 events were organise as part of Coca-Cola Clean Coasts Week\, which included beach cleans\, wildlife/marine litter talks\, an open air film screening and yoga on the beach. We are currently planning many coastal celebration events to run alongside beach cleans throughout the country. A calendar of coastal celebration events for Coca-Cola Clean Coasts Week 2017 will be added to the webpage.
