DESCRIPTION:Clean Coasts in conjunction with Portmarnock Community Association are hosting marram grass planting workshop. It will take place on the 14th March from 11 am to 1 pm. Marram grass help mitigate coastal erosion on beaches backed by sand dune systems. \nMeeting point is the South car-park of Portmarnock beach. Tools will be provided but if you have a spade or shovel please bring it along. Please wear warm clothing. \nIf you have any queries please contact rcurtin@eeu.antaisce.org.

DESCRIPTION:As part of this year’s Earth Day Celebration\, Clean Coasts are hosting the Irish premiere of the online screening of the new documentary “The Story of Plastic”. The documentary looks at the environmental damage and human rights abuses that occur throughout the lifecycle of plastic and what companies\, countries\, and people do to fix the issues. This documentary is from the same organisation who brought us the brilliant ‘Story of Stuff’. \nIt takes place on the 22nd of April from 8 pm to 9.30 pm. The documentary running time is 1h 35m\, minutes and we have an optional short questions and answers session at the end. \nPlaces are limited due to licensing\, so you do need to register on Eventbrite link for screening.\nhttps://bit.ly/2VkTs2O \nOnce you have registered\, on the 22nd April at 7.50 pm you will be sent the link to view the documentary via Eventbrite.

SUMMARY:How Does Climate Change Impact Coastal Heritage?
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday 13th May at 7 pm for a virtual talk with Sandra Henry from the Cherish Project\, as part of our Roadshow Series. \nChanges to the Irish climate have been predicted to have significant implications for our built and archaeological heritage. After a short introduction about the work of Clean Coasts\, Sandra will be talking on how climate change impacts on coastal heritage. \nThe talk will last approximately 20 minutes and it will be followed by a quick Q&A session and it will be hosted on Zoom. You have to register to receive the zoom link and it will be sent on the evening of the talk. \nAbout Sandra Henry \nSandra is lead research archaeologist on the EU funded project CHERISH. Sandra’s role involves developing\, guiding and initiating the data capture and research agenda of this collaborative project with Wales \nSandra obtained a B.A. degree in archaeology and classical studies from the National University of Ireland\, Galway\, and an M.A. in maritime archaeology\, at the University of Southern Denmark\, Esbjerg.
