SUMMARY:Waters and the Wild: Open Water Swimming
DESCRIPTION:Live webinar conversation with extreme open water swimmers – Nuala Moore and Lisa McDaniel\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nAs part of our ‘Waters and the Wild’ webinar series\, Clean Coasts speaks to open water swimmers Nuala Moore and Lisa McDaniel. Nuala is a champion and instructor of cold water and open water swimming going back decades. Lisa swam the English-France channel crossing in a team of 6 as part of a charity relay. \nFor almost 20 years Clean Coasts in Ireland has worked with heroes around the coasts\, individuals and groups that give great personal effort to improve Ireland’s coastline. We have recognized and awarded heroes every year that stand out with great achievements. Our common link is the sea and our relationship with it – taking away rubbish that washes in from it\, and stopping rubbish get to the sea; life that lives within the water\, and creating events for life beside the sea; tackling short and long term problems; and while educating people about issues around the coast\, we create a lot of fun by the sea too! \nThis series is looking at individuals who brave the wild seas and\, whether a sport or a hobby\, people have mastered their abilities\, won awards and tackled extreme challenges; for charities\, competitions\, or just simply pushing themselves further that they have been before. We will look at swimming\, diving\, surfing\, and paddling and heroes within each. We hope to explore their personal stories\, their challenges\, their difficulties\, and their successes What inspired them? An opportunity for volunteers around the Clean Coasts network of Ireland to be inspired by their heroism. \nAudience \nYou are invited to email a question you may have for a speaker in advance to: agray@eeu.antaisce.org We will monitor the chat box on the event for further questions for the speakers\, but the audience will be muted throughout the event. \nPlease book one ticket per device. SUMMARY:Dublin Community Clean Up
DESCRIPTION:Dublin Community Clean-Up 2021 will take place from the 11th to the 19th of September and it will be proudly supported by the four local authorities. \nThe event was first created in 2019. Building on the success of previous calls to action such as Dodder Action Day\, Dublin Canals Action Day\, Team Dublin Clean-up and Dublin Waters Action day\, the groups have all come together for Dublin’s biggest volunteer clean-up on the city’s streets\, canals\, rivers\, mountains and coastline. \nIn 2020 we had to cancel due to covid\, therefore\, this year\, we are hoping to build on the great achievement of 2019\, we are asking again all volunteers around Dublin to join forces and organise clean-ups around the cities\, to make this the biggest clean-up event ever! \nWhy not get your family and friends to be a part of the action? \nYou can start your very own clean-up in your community\, or take a look at our map and join an existing one. \nFrom the mountains to the sea let’s make Dublin litter-free.\nRegister to receive a free clean-up kit: https://dublincommunitycleanup.ie/
