SUMMARY:Coca-Cola Clean Coasts Week
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Ireland’s spectacular coastline by getting involved in Coca-Cola Clean Coasts Week 2017. The week runs from June 2nd – 11th and there are many ways for you to get involved. \n \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER FOR CLEAN COASTS WEEK\n \n\n\n\n\nWe have all seen the evidence of marine litter along our coastline so for all you beach lovers out there it was an opportunity to do something positive to combat the problem and also raise awareness about the issue. People can create their own beach clean event or participate in one. Every piece of litter removed from the coast is a piece of litter that won’t pollute our oceans or harm wildlife. People can join us in celebration by attending some of the free coastal celebration events that take place around the country as well.

SUMMARY:Drumming Circle on the Beach – Mayo
DESCRIPTION:The tradition of drumming and singing together goes back to the mists of the past and our homo ancestors. In the times of screens\, social media\, migration\, scattered communities\, the need for belonging to a group or a tribe calls us again.  Drum Circle fulfils that need instantly\, you will feel the power of community in action from the very first drum call. Drumming is fun\, reduces stress levels\, brings people together\, creates good memories\, and basically is a perfect tool to boost your positive mental health. A drum circle will take place on 2 beaches in the Republic of Ireland\, Mayo and Kerry\, and a beach in Northern Ireland\, and these activities will be followed by a quick beach clean. \nThere will be a drumming circle event on Keel Beach on Achill on Monday 5th June at 8:30pm post beach clean.

SUMMARY:Beat the Microbead Day
DESCRIPTION:Clean Coasts will be holding our annual Beat the Microbead Day on June 6th. Microbeads are tiny particles of plastic are ingredients in thousands of personal care products sold around the world. These microbeads\, hardly visible to the naked eye\, flow straight from the bathroom drain into the sewage system. Wastewater treatment plants are not designed to filter out microbeads and so they end up in our oceans. \nSea creatures absorb or eat microbeads. These microbeads are passed along the marine food chain. Since humans are ultimately at the top of this food chain\, it is likely that we are also absorbing microbeads from the food we eat. Microbeads are not biodegradable and once they enter the marine environment\, they are impossible to remove.
