| FreeTogether with our group Buncrana Tidy Towns and Donegal Co. Co. we will be running a practical marram grass planting workshop at Lisfannon beach in Donegal from 11am on Friday 9th June. It will give those attending a full understanding of how the process is done and also tackle dune erosion at the beach. Please bring a shovel, bucket and packed lunch as well as suitable clothing for the weather.

Sand dunes act as natural buffers to the forces of the ocean and worth protecting. They are our one of our natural coastal defence mechanisms and protect the land behind the dune area whether agricultural or housing areas. They are also an important habitat for coastal flora and fauna. As part of Clean Coasts Week we will have a stand alone day bringing attention to the importance of sand dune protection, this will be evident on our social media along with several marram grass planting events happening around the country.
