Lisa McDaniel

Nuala is an extreme open water swimmer, including ice and marathon swims around the world. She is also a diving instructor and specialist in cold water swimming and safety. She was one of six swimmers to swim 1,330km around the island of Ireland, a 25km solo swim in Lake Zurich, the first Irish swimmer to swim 1000m at 0°. She has competed in ice swimming in China, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Chile and Argentina. Nuala was the first swimmer in the world to complete the crossing between the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean, south of Cape Horn. Not only is she a twice- Guinness World Recorder holder, but listed as one of the top 50 of the World’s Most Adventurous Women in Open Water over several years.

Lisa McDaniel works on the Green-Schools Travel Programme for An Taisce and is based in County Sligo. After years of Scuba Diving she started open water swimming in 2012 along the Sligo coastline. She has taken part in many open water swim events and is on the organising committee of the Lough Gill 10k Swim in Sligo, which is an annual fundraiser for the North West Hospice. In 2019 she was selected to swim as part of an English Channel 6 person charity relay team from England to France.
